Come along with me as we delve into the fun of bucket drumming.  I'm going to share my 3 step framework for teaching bucket drumming successfully.  You'll learn practical strategies and helpful tips that will empower you to confidently lead your students through the exciting world of rhythm and percussion. Get ready to unlock the potential of bucket drumming and ignite a passion for music in your classroom!


Step 1 - Make it fun

STEP 1 - Make it fun

  • Use pop music or other music your students love
  • Let them play A LOT
  • Make it funny

STEP 2 - Make it easy

  • Do NOT have your students read music
  • Play everything in unison
  • Keep it simple 

Step 3 - Keep it flowing

  • Have all music ready 
  • Echo-teaching is your friend
  • Question and answer sessions work well


Bucket drumming do's

  1. Do use proper names for drum parts.
  2. Do allow students to make choices.
  3. Do use your spidey senses of observation to help you keep students engaged.

Bucket drumming don'ts

  1. Don’t have your students read the music. 
  2. Don’t use more than 2 part harmony.
