How Should EdTech Companies Treat Instructional Coaches?

Question of the Week
Our favorite part of recording a live podcast each week is participating in the great conversations that happen on our live chat, on social media, and in our comments section. This week’s question is: How can a Tech Company best support Instructional Coaches?Weekly Topic
- How can Educational Brands best support Instructional Coaches to have their products and applications be properly used in the classroom?
How can EdTech Brands Support Instructional Coaches?
- Understand what a Coach is and the role they play in the school district
- They aren’t teachers … but they are
- They aren’t administrators … but they are
- They aren’t decision makers … but they are
- They don’t control money … but they do
- They don’t teach students … but they do
- Speak to Coaches using teacher language … not corporate language
- It’s an app or a website … it’s not a “solution”
- Help us understand what the product is going to do and how it is going to save a teacher time.
- Relationships between vendors and coaches - “Trust, but verify. Relationships with vendor partners and customers are grounded in Performance and Trust, but verifying what you have been told is always an important aspect of purchases and support.” --- Keith Frank, Proven Learning EdTech Sales - Kentucky
- Provide resources for the coach to share with their teachers so that they don’t have to feel like they need to make their own tutorials.
- Be active on Social Media
- Trials and Demos are a great way to help the coach get a feel for the product and how it would help a teacher’s productivity.
