A Reminder From A Student About the Magic in Our Day

This mini episode is from an experience that I had with a student recently. Through a single moment this young lady reminded me of the magic that we have in our days. The school day is filled with stress and there's always going to be an endless amount of things that need to be done, but this student reminded me that it's important to be present and embrace the special things that the day holds for us.
What's going on everybody? I hope this finds you striving and thriving and doing absolutely amazing. Now, do you ever find yourself in a rut where it's Groundhog Day? And you get caught up in that cycle of doing the same tasks day in and day out? What if it doesn't have to be that way? What if you could add a little spice, a little something extra? A little magic for yourself today. You see, a young lady, a leaf, in a little joy reminded me of the magic that there is to be had in every day. My name is Brian Martin. I'm a second grade teacher and hosted the teaching champions podcast. And I was outside on my lunch break the other day. And I was taking a little walk. And I'm walking past the playground. And from behind me, I hear this little voice shouting, Mr. Mr. Mr. Martin. And I turn around, and it's one of my students. And it's this very special young lady, and she's running up to me, and her hairs in a ponytail. And her glasses were bouncing up and down on her face. And she just had the biggest smile. And she gets to me, and she holds up this leaf. And with autumn Tuesday as in in the world, she says, Look, Mr. Martin, look, it's an ag. And on this leaf, there was a very tiny caterpillar, as well as something small that this young lady thought was an egg. And she just started jumping all around. And then she leaves me standing there. And I watch as she goes running off with this leaf in her hand, screaming at the top of her lungs to Oliver friends about the discovery, she just made it even now as I'm talking about it, it gives me goosebumps. It was that special. And working with the young ones. They give you so many special reminders. And this young lady gave me the reminder, to embrace the magic to look at the day with awe and wonder to be captivated by the smallest of things. Because at some point, we age, and that wonder and that all it slowly starts to disappear. And we get caught up in those daily stressors that to do list. All the things that we need to do. And in the lens that we view the world. We miss out on seeing all that magic. We don't slow down to capture that all that wonder, to feel those moments that the day gives us. There's magic happening every single day. It's in the greetings of the classroom door. It's in the form of a former students stopping to say hi, there's magic in the students smiles. There's magic when you sit down and you listen to a student read. When you see those moments, when those light bulbs go off. It's when you see a student show grit and perseverance. When you see a student do something kind. There's so many moments of magic that are embedded throughout our day. And whether it's within your school, or at home, make it a point to see, to hear, to feel it. Even if it's only for a second. Time goes fast. We get caught up in the grind. But take it from a beautiful young lady who was holding a leaf who was jumping up and down and letting out joyous screams there's something special when you allow those small moments of magic into your day. We've been blessed with another sunrise. I hope you have an awesome day.
