What's going on everybody, I hope this finds you striving and thriving and doing absolutely amazing. My name is Brian Martin. I'm a second grade teacher and host of the teaching champions podcast. And I hope everyone's enjoying your summer. And there is so many great things about summer. But one of the best parts is it brings about a lot of new opportunities, a lot of chances for us to try new things to evolve. And that sometimes means stepping out of our comfort zone, being willing to become uncomfortable. And that's not easy. And recently, I've been blessed with the opportunity to do a speaking engagement. And let me first say that way, before the podcast started, my goal was to give keynote talks. So this is something that I really want to do. While I was thinking about the speech that I'm going to give, and there was a moment, as I'm thinking about this, that my anxiety shot through the roof, my mind went blank, and it was a complete deer in headlights moment. And I can laugh about it now. But this is something that I always wanted to do. And I was having a moment with it. And maybe you can relate where there's that thing that you have always wanted to do. But did you get that opportunity to do it, you find every reason to avoid it. You allow all these self sabotaging thoughts to creep in a new let that fear win. Because it's easy. It's comfortable, to play it safe. But we don't grow. If we play it safe, we lose out on those new opportunities, we lose out on developing new skills, we lose out on becoming better versions of ourselves. And oftentimes those moments that we build up in our heads that we get anxious about, they end up not being nearly as difficult as we made them out to be in our minds. So as I sat there in my moment, I reminded myself how much I love to speak. I reframed the negative thoughts that I was having. And look for the excitement in this opportunity. I started to take action and started to craft the talk. I started to visualize that talk and thought about what would it look like? What's that talk gonna sound like? What's it gonna feel like? And these are just a few of the things that I'm doing. And I'm fired up for this. And I'm sure there's going to be more moments where anxiety rushes in, and I feel in my gut. But that's going to come and it's going to go in the reward of doing this will be so much greater. So as you face those moments when fear stopping you in your tracks, see if you can reframe your thoughts. Visualize yourself being successful in this endeavor. What will it look like? What will it sound like? What will it feel like? And start taking action steps and think about the reward you're gonna get from stepping into your fear. author John shed set, a shipping harbor safe.
