Finding Inspiration In Your Day

Finding Inspiration In Your Day

As the school year is picking up traction it is important for educators to be able to find inspiration and motivation when it is one of those days when you just don't have it. The answer can be found in the classroom next to you, in the hallways, and everywhere else where positive interactions take place. This episode dives into a reminder on the importance of being present and taking time to appreciate the wonderful and inspiring things that are happening all around you.

What's going on everybody? I hope this finds you striving and thriving and doing absolutely amazing. Now, has the day ever gotten underway. And you feel as if you need a little pick me up. You need that shatter motivation, a little inspiration or some encouragement? Well, no this, there are many places that you can get these from. And it may be closer than you know. My name is Brian Martin, I'm a second grade teacher and host of the teaching champions podcast. That inspiration, that motivation, that encouragement, it's with you every day. It can be found in the school hallways, it can be found in the cafeteria, it can be found when you're walking past others having a conversation when you hear others interacting with students. And if you're lucky, it can be found through your co worker. That's right next door. And I'm one of the lucky ones. The teacher who teaches next to me is amazing. And in my school, we have retractable walls between the rooms. So it's razor thin. And you can hear what's going on in the classroom next to you. And there are moments when I can hear my teaching neighbor and her students. And they may be reading a book, they may be working on some math singing a song or another learning activity. And you can just hear the learning and joy that's taking place to the wall. In my colleague teaches first grade. So I have several of her former students. And often when the students are allowed to read around the room, one of the young men in my class will position himself right next to the wall. And the other day this young champion went home and he told his mom, that sometimes he likes to sit by the wall. Because there's times when he misses his teacher from last year. And if he sits in the right place, he can hear her voice. And he just loves that. How special is it that it doesn't matter if my colleague is teaching a lesson, or if she's outside her door in the morning, lighting her students up with joy and love as they enter her classroom. She's doing some special things. And there are moments when I can just sit and smile to myself, because I see what she does. You see, if you keep your eyes open, if you choose to listen, there are great things happening in every school, every classroom, every place where positive interactions are happening. But you have to be open to seeing it, you have to be open to hearing it. And you have to take time to appreciate those moments. Because there's times when we may be a little down, we may need that little boost. It's one of those days where you just don't have it in you just need to find and feel a little inspiration. And all you have to do is pay attention to what others are doing around you. Because great things are happening all around. And you just have to take that time to see it. To hear it and to feel it. And a little side note, don't forget that there may be some student who's sitting next to a wall who goes out of their way to pass you in the hallway. Who makes it a point to be in your space just because they miss you. We inspire we encourage we lift each other up. We've been blessed with another sunrise. Have an awesome day.
