Mid Week Pick Me Up: Embrace the Here and Now

This mini episode dives into a few moments that happened recently at school that made me pause and think. If you have ever found yourself focused on tomorrow or stuck on yesterday then take a few minutes to listen to the power of appreciating the moment.
What's going on everybody, I hope this finds you striving and thriving and doing absolutely amazing. My name is Brian Martin. I'm a second grade teacher, and hosted the teaching champions podcast. few moments happened the other day, that made me really step back, pause and reflect. And the first moment happened at lunchtime. I was walking down the hallway. And a close friend of mine, who's in the final days of her career, was talking with another colleague of ours who had retired last year. And as I walked by, I overheard the ladies talking about retirement, all the emotions that go into it. And I could hear the reassurance from my former colleague about how wonderful was and it made me smile for my friend who's getting ready to start that new chapter in her life. And the second moment came later in the day, the dismissal, bell rang, the students left. And I was walking down the hallway. And in a classroom was a grade level team standing around one of our newly hired teachers, that would be starting in the fall. And you could see the excitement, and a little of the overwhelm on this newly hired teachers face, as their future colleagues are giving her the rundown of what's to come. And these two moments just made me step back and pause. It's amazing, the speed of time. Chapters in our lives are constantly starting and ending and one closes and a new one begins. And these two moments made me appreciate those who are there to reassure others at those times, when a transition in your life is happening. And there's that mixed bag of emotions of excitement and nervousness. And that made me appreciate change. That Wheel of Time is constantly moving. Sometimes, we can't wait for change. And other times we wish we could be in those moments forever. But time never stops. And life is always in constant motion. And with that, it really made me appreciate the power of the moment. Being where our feet are at embracing the moment that is right here in front of us, embracing the people that were around, embracing our students in all the laughs, the conversations, the aha moments, all those moments that push us to grow those moments that if you hold on to them, at the end of the day, you can look back and smile as you think about them. timestamps are no one. Be present, and cherish what you have in the here and now. And if you're in a place where you can offer reassurance and guidance to someone who's about to start a new chapter, do it. And if you find yourself laser focused on tomorrow, or living in yesterday, take that time to bring yourself back to the now to today. Because the one moment that we truly have is right here. Embrace today my friends. We've been blessed with another sunrise. Have an awesome day everybody
