What's going on everybody? I hope this finds you striving and thriving and doing absolutely amazing. My name is Brian Martin. I'm a second grade teacher and host of the teaching champions podcast. Now, have you ever given everything that you had to try and achieve something and fell short or become so consumed with the final outcome that that's all you see. This past Saturday, Coach Mike Chaski, who's the head coach dupes men's basketball team, a man who many consider one of the greatest, if not the greatest basketball coach of all time, was retiring. And he was using his last moments as a coach to offer words of wisdom, important lessons that each and every single one of us should pay attention to. And if you've ever been a coach, or you've had a child that's played sports, or were involved in something that meant the world to them, and it came to a close, you know, how emotionally difficult that is. There's sadness, there's tears, there's hurt as some of their dreams and, and this was no different for Coach K's players. If you watched the gate, as the seconds ticked off the clock, the opposing team, all celebrated in cameras scanned the Dukes basketball players, as they had to back to the locker room, their heads were down, tears were coming down some of the players faces and there's no doubt that that pain was carried into the locker room. And when Coach K was asked shortly after the game, how we felt about losing his last game, he quickly took the light off of himself, and he casts his love over his players. And he said, as a coach, I'm just concerned about these guys. I mean, they're already crying on the court. And I mean, that's the only thing that you can think about. And then going into the locker room. And I've said my entire career that I wanted to my seasons to end, where my team was either crying tears of joy, or tears of sorrow, because then you know, that they gave everything. And I have a locker room filled with guys who were crying. And it's a beautiful sight. It's not the site that I would want, I'd want the other. But it's a site that I really respect. And it makes me understand just how good this group was. And that's what I'm concerned about. And he continued, you take care of the people you love. You take care of the people who have been committed to you and who have believed in you. And they check every box. So we're going to help them get past this, and then move on because they're really young. In that moment, Coach K reminds us, when you give all you have to something, you invest in it. When you believe in the people around you. When you're committed to those people. That's a beautiful thing. And maybe you achieve those big goals. Or maybe you come up a little short, knowing you tried, knowing you built new skills, knowing you were committed and you gave it your all knowing that you created and foster relationships, knowing that you had some amazing moments on that journey. Win or lose. That's a beautiful thing. And that was one of codeshare skis final lessons that we can all take in. We've been blessed with another sunrise. Have an awesome day.
