One Way to Have a Better School Day

What's going on everybody? I hope this finds you striving and thriving and doing absolutely amazing. Do you want to add a little happiness to your day? Do you want to escape the mundane in the same old SAML, then all you have to do is one simple thing. My name is Brian Martin, and I'm the host of the teaching champions podcast. If you want to add a little joy to your day, then all you have to do is notice. It's simple, be present. Be aware, be attentive. And notice the amazing things that are happening all around you. Special things are there. We just have to be willing to see them, to hear them and feel them. And as I record this episode, and I reflect on today, let me share a few special moments. There was joy to be found when I was walking in the hallway. And from around the corner, I heard a young first grader Shout Out with Joy to the phys ed teacher, wishing him a good morning. And you heard the happiness in his voice. As he wished her good morning back. There was joy to be found. When I returned to my room after dropping my students off as a special. And on my desk, I found a message written in all capital letters on a construction paper, there was to remind me that I owe one of my students a special award when he got back. And I think he was dropping me a little hint that he expected it when we returned. And there was joy to be found when I passed the first grader in the hallway. And this first grader was headed to the main office to celebrate with the principal because he had just achieved something special. And he's in the middle of the hallway breakdancing. And there was joy to be had when the school safety officer pulled me into the conference room to show me a presentation and deer that he was creating so that he could share it with all the students in the school. And he just wanted some feedback. And there was joy to be found. As I'm sitting next to one of my students. She's reading me a story. And she's just crushing it. And I looked at her and I said look at you and her face just lit up with so much pride each and every single day. There's going to be difficult moments. But if you choose to be present, to be aware, to be attentive to the special moments that are happening all around you, then your day is going to be so much better. And remember, joy can be found in a simple hello, joy can be found and seeing the students happiness and excitement. Joy can be found in seeing those around you use their gifts to make your school better place. Joy can be found in a student leaving you a reminder and all capital letters. And joy can be found in those special smiles. See it. Hear it. Feel it. Grab on to that joy, my friends. We've been blessed with another sunrise. Have an awesome day.
