The Educators You Surround Yourself With
The educators that we surround ourselves with matter. A gentleman by the name of Johnny Tiersma said, "Find a teacher who sees students like you do. It’s really nice to be able to speak the same language.” There is so much truth to this. The people we surround ourselves matter. The words and actions greatly influence us. This mini episode explores this.
What's going on everybody, I hope this finds you striving and thriving and doing absolutely amazing. My name is Brian Martin, I'm a second grade teacher and hosted the teaching champions podcast. The people that you surround yourself with matter. The people, you spend your time with the people you interact with the people that you connect with matter. Now, I was reading an article the other day, and the author of the piece said that the people around you are like a library of wisdom and resources. And he said that not all of those books are good. And not all those books are wise. But if you choose to read that book, it will influence you. Sometimes you realize that sometimes you don't. The energy, those around you bring influences you the words they speak, influences you, their actions, their habits, these will influence you. And as we're on summer vacation, it's a good time to think about those that we allow to influence us. Do their words lift you up? Do they make you feel better, more energized, more enthusiastic? Is their energy bringing more vitality and joy to your day? Or is it the opposite? Are the people that we choose to be around? Are they bringing us down, making us bitter, negative, angry. And recently on social media, there's been a ton of post about all these different conferences that are taking place. In these polls, you see so much joy and happiness, you see excitement for learning, excitement to connect with educators that share their same enthusiasm. You can see it, you can hear that passion, that excitement, you can see the energy that these people bring out one another. And think about how that affects them. Think about the fact that it would have to be around that type of energy. So choose your crew carefully. Know that those around us will affect us. And we have to be conscious which way they do. And it's always a good thing to look in the mirror and ask ourselves, what type of energy are we giving off to others? Are we lifting others up? are we pulling them down? And as we embrace the summer vacation, and we look to recharge from the school year, take note of what a wise educate put out on social media recently. This gentleman said find a teacher who sees students like you do. It's really nice to be able to speak the same language. Find those people. We've been blessed with another sunrise.
