Episode 4: Rick Ramirez, Reach Them Before You Teach Them!
Rick is a former boxing champion turned AVID Coordinator and elective teacher from El
Paso, Texas. After 4 years of service in the United States Marine Corps, Rick became a teacher
on a mission to make a difference in his community. Teachers and district personnel recognized
Rick’s ability to reach students and Rick was named Teacher of the Year for the biggest school
district in El Paso, Texas. Ricky is a firm believer that all students can learn at high levels if a
caring relationship is established first. Along with doctoral coursework and being an AVID
national staff developer, Rick is now sharing his message across the nation to motivate students
and teachers with inspirational keynotes and workshops designed to help people uncover the
CHAMPION within!
