LWH Podcast Recording: Welcome back to the Lead with Hope podcast, where we believe leadership isn't just about what you accomplish, it's about who you're becoming. I'm your host, Brandi Kelly, educator, leadership coach, and founder of Spark Hope EDU. If you have ever felt overwhelmed, if you've questioned your next step, if you've looked around and you've thought, I know I'm capable of more, but I just feel so stuck. This episode's for you. Today I'm sharing one of my favorite practical tools. It's a simple five-step reset that has helped me navigate seasons of uncertainty, burnout, and transition. By the end of today's episode, you'll have a framework you can use anytime. Life or leadership feels heavy. So grab your coffee and take a deep breath. Let's lead with hope. Most of us don't feel stuck because we don't know what to do. We stay stuck because we don't know how to slow down long enough to hear what we actually need. And that is why I created this simple reset. Whenever I notice myself feeling overwhelmed or getting on that hamster wheel and just spinning in circles, I walk through these five steps. Step one, pause. Before you solve anything, pause. Take one slow breath. And then another. And then remind yourself: I don't have to figure out my entire future in this moment. Sometimes that is the most productive thing that we can do. Stop. Practice the pause. Clarity rarely comes when your nervous system is in survival mode. And then step two is to notice. Ask yourself, what am I thinking? What am I feeling? What is my body trying to tell me? Sometimes our body recognizes stress before our mind does. So notice this without judgment. This curiosity will create awareness, and awareness will create choice. And then step three, sort. Begin separating what is actually happening. Ask yourself, what do I know? These are the facts. And then ask yourself, what do I think? These are your assumptions or interpretations. And then finally ask, what do I need? Not what everyone else needs, not what your calendar demands, but what do you need in this moment? Sometimes it's rest. Other times it's going to be courage. It may be a difficult conversation that you don't really want to have. And sometimes it's simply giving yourself permission to not have every answer. Step four, choose. Once you have created that space for yourself, choose one small next step. Again, you don't have to have it all figured out. Just choose. The next right step. Progress doesn't require perfection. Momentum begins with one intentional decision. So ask yourself: what is one action that I can take today? You know, leadership isn't built one giant leap at a time. It's built through consistent intentional choices. Step five. Release what isn't yours to carry. Release the outcome. Release perfection. Release comparison. Release guilt. One of my favorite reminders is this I can only control my attitude, behaviors, and choices today. Everything else, release. Imagine how different our leadership would look if we paused before reacting, if we noticed instead of numbed, if we sorted facts from fear, if we would choose one courageous step. And if we release the pressure to have it all figured out. Hope isn't pretending everything is okay. It's believing there is always a way forward. If today's conversation resonated with you, I want to personally invite you into something I am incredibly excited about. This September, I'm launching the Hope Collective. Feeling stuck doesn't mean you're failing. It doesn't mean that you have lost your purpose. Sometimes feeling stuck is just an invitation to pause long enough for God to redirect your next step. So this week, pause, notice, sort, choose, and release. Remember, hope is not something we wait for. Hope is something we build. Thank you for spending this time with me today.
